Internal Hemorrhoids Treatment

There are two different types of hemorrhoids, one being internal and the other being external. The treatments for these two kinds of hemorrhoids are different; this article will strictly focus on internal hemorrhoids treatment. There are a few different nonsurgical internal hemorrhoids that all have the same outcome. The way that these procedures work is by creating inflammation within the hemorrhoids which cause them to shrink up and scar.

This may sound a little weird but it is effective. Once the hemorrhoids scar they then attach themselves to the muscles that are located in the anal cavity and that makes fecal matter unable to pull while it is working itself out. Sclerotherapy is a liquid that is inserted at the bottom of the hemorrhoid which causes the above mentioned inflammation. This can be uncomfortable for a few days but that discomfort will subside. Another type of internal hemorrhoids treatment is called rubber band ligation. This means that a rubber band is tightly placed over the hemorrhoid base therefore cutting off blood flow, and then creating inflammation. This is also painful and bleeding can be quite severe for a couple weeks time, which is completely normal. The thin to be careful with though is the risk of infection, the area must be kept as clean as possible.

There are two other treatments, heat coagulation and cryotherapy. One of these treatments uses heat to kill the tissue while the other freezes the tissue to death. There is also some surgical internal hemorrhoids treatment that is available and may be necessary if the hemorrhoids are severe enough. There surgical procedures are certainly more painful and the outcome it still the same. There is no guarantee that the hemorrhoids will not return later on but they are less likely once surgery has been performed.

The surgical procedures are called dilation, Doppler ligation, sphincterotomy, hemorrhoidectomy, and stapled hemorrhoidectomy. The procedure pretty much goes like this: a hollow tube is placed in the anal cavity, there is pushing and lifting of the hemorrhoids, there is then suturing to help support that tissue which leads to relief. It is quite obvious that the surgical procedures do not sound that pleasant but this may be the only way for relief. Knowing the nonsurgical treatments may be beneficial to people so they can discuss hem with their physicians.
